If you've been dreaming of white sand beaches, warm Caribbean breezes, and a wedding that feels like a luxury vacation — Puerto Rico should be at the top of your list.

As a destination wedding photographer with over 25 years of experience capturing love stories across the island, I've seen firsthand why couples from New York, Florida, Texas, New Jersey, and California choose Puerto Rico as their wedding destination year after year.

This guide covers everything you need to know to plan your dream destination wedding in Puerto Rico.

WHY PUERTO RICO?

Puerto Rico is the perfect destination wedding location for couples from

the United States — and the reasons go far beyond its stunning beauty.

It is US territory. No passport required. No currency exchange.

No international roaming charges. You get the exotic, breathtaking

experience of a Caribbean island with the ease and comfort of

traveling domestically.

Add to that world-class resorts, extraordinary cuisine, rich culture,

vibrant people, and some of the most dramatic and romantic landscapes

in the entire Caribbean — and it becomes clear why Puerto Rico is not

just a destination. It is an experience.

Couples do not just get married here. They fall in love with Puerto Rico —

and so does everyone they bring with them.

THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO GET MARRIED

IN PUERTO RICO

Here is the truth that most guides won't tell you — there is no bad time

to get married in Puerto Rico. Every single month on this island has its

own magic, its own light, its own reason to say "I do."

Let us take you through the year.

JANUARY — CELEBRATION IN THE AIR

Puerto Rico begins the year in full fiesta mode.

The island is alive with music, color, and joy

— and that energy becomes the backdrop of your

wedding day. There is nothing quite like celebrating

your love when an  entire island is already celebrating.

FEBRUARY — MADE FOR LOVE

February in Puerto Rico feels like the island was designed

for romance. The weather is soft, the skies are clear, and the warmth wraps around you like an embrace.

It is the month of love — and Puerto Rico

takes that seriously.

MARCH — GOLDEN AND GLORIOUS

March brings some of the most beautiful days

Puerto Rico has to offer.  Clear skies, a gentle breeze, and that golden Caribbean light that makes every photograph look like

it was painted. Your guests will never want to leave.

APRIL — THE ISLAND IN FULL BLOOM

April is Puerto Rico awakening. Flowers blooming, landscapes bursting with color, the air fresh and alive.

Haciendas and open-air venues are at their  absolute

best this time of year — lush, romantic, and breathtaking

in every direction.

MAY THROUGH AUGUST — TROPICAL AND VIBRANT

Summer in Puerto Rico is pure Caribbean energy.

The beaches are stunning, the ocean is warm, and the colors

are vivid and bold. This is the season for couples who love

the heat, the tropics, and the feeling of endless summer.

For your celebration, luxury hotel venues

offer the perfect setting — beautifully air-conditioned

spaces that open onto terraces and ocean views,

giving you the best of both worlds.

Hotels like El Conquistador, Caribe Hilton,

and Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde were made for summer weddings.

OCTOBER & NOVEMBER — SOFT LIGHT

AND PURE ROMANCE

As the year begins to wind down, Puerto Rico enters

one of its most romantic seasons. The light is softer,

the temperatures are more inviting, and the

island feels intimate and unhurried.

Haciendas and garden venues come alive

in a way that takes your breath away.

Couples who choose October and November

often say it felt like the island was theirs alone.

DECEMBER — JOY WITHOUT LIMITS

December in Puerto Rico is unlike anywhere else on earth. The climate is magnificent — warm days, cool evenings,

and a sky full of stars. But what truly sets December apart

is the spirit of the people. Puerto Ricans celebrate

the holidays with a joy that is contagious, generous, and deeply beautiful. our wedding in December will not

just be a wedding — it will be a celebration your

guests talk about for the rest of their lives.

A NOTE ON SEPTEMBER

September is Puerto Rico's most tropical month

— lush, dramatic, and full

of personality. For September weddings,

we simply recommend choosing one of the island's stunning indoor venues, where the beauty of Puerto Rico

surrounds you while you celebrate in complete comfort.

It is still Puerto Rico. It is still extraordinary.

Every month tells a

different story here.

The question is — which one is yours?

TIPS FOR COUPLES PLANNING FROM NEW YORK, FLORIDA, TEXAS,

NEW JERSEY & CALIFORNIA

Planning a destination wedding from afar requires a slightly different

approach — but it is far more manageable than most couples expect,

especially with the right team beside you.

Here are the most important things to keep in mind:

1. HIRE LOCAL VENDORS YOU TRUST

Your photographer, planner, florist, and caterer should know Puerto Rico

intimately. This is the single most important decision you will make.

The right local team makes the entire experience seamless —

and the wrong one makes it stressful. Choose experience. Choose trust.

2. VISIT BEFORE YOUR WEDDING DAY

If possible, plan a venue visit 6 to 12 months before your wedding.

Walk the space, feel the light, meet your vendors in person, and

experience the island the way your guests will. You will leave more

excited than when you arrived.

3. MAKE YOUR GUESTS' TRIP UNFORGETTABLE

Many of your guests will be visiting Puerto Rico for the first time.

Give them a wedding website with travel tips, hotel recommendations,

local restaurants, and activities. Make their entire trip as

extraordinary as your wedding day — they will never forget it.

4. BUILD YOUR VENDOR TEAM EARLY

Puerto Rico's top wedding photographers and cinematographers book

months — sometimes over a year — in advance. If you have a date

in mind, reach out as early as possible. The best teams fill up quickly.
